Arm Rest - Filling the CD changer void!
« on: March 17, 2011, 07:44:33 pm »
I've removed the CD changer from my Arm Rest and no longer have an iPod so have no need for the dock - anyone know of a part which I can use to fill the hole?

Other option seems to be to replace the entire arm rest unit with a different part which seems like a lot of effort. Be nice if i could just drop a little 'cubby hole' in there to hold my loose change, house keys and Polos!

Its a single din stereo fitting, so if you look at the old MK4 and MK3 cars you should be able to get one of the single din cubby holes they had below the stereo.  Think they were also in the previous generation ibiza.  :happy2:  Just to add I havent actually done this but the sizing is the same as a single din stereo so no reason why it wouldnt work.

Back from the dealer, no joy.

They said they couldn't find the part number. Anyone got a picture of one or a spare\unwanted one kicking about that they might like to sell on?

Ian

Hi Ian,
Hope this helps. Not as deep as I thought it would be and still wastes a bit of space but it could easily be deepened if needed. I checked some in Halfords and they were even shallower and very flimsy, this is grained on top edge and has one of the long edges chamfered which looks better than just a sharp edge. It's just a snug fit with no clips or fixings and can be lifted out easily for mods etc.
Regards,
John

I'm just leaving it in situ until I get my newly painted centre console fitted. Not sure when that'll be but if you want it you can have it if you pay p&p?

John

Hi John

Appreciate that. Only just got round to getting back on the case with this. Will get down to the dealers in the week armed with the part number and picture proof!
