Do you have a diesel?

Sounds like the inlet manifold flap motor, sits just before the EGR.

Shares a circuit with the fans too.

Recently replaced mine, was £147 after discount from ECP for same part VW supply (wrongly listed as throttle body)
Used to have Edition 30 - number 009 and a GT TDI 140.
Now have an S4 B8 Avant (stage 2)

Hi yes its a diesel. I think the noise is there whilst driving more much more noticeable when engine off. Sounded like amplified turkey gobble! Haha any suggestions on how to narrow down what it is? Did your do it even with engine off?

Thanks

These might be seperate issues.

Best bet is to get a VCDS scan.
However, my 'flap' never came up as a fault even though it wasn't functioning, it was when I took it out to clean I noticed it was solid. Replaced it and it turns off super smooth now.

I think you maybe right.

The main issue being the fan / belt noise. My wife encountered it today so ill take a look when I get home. And ill get that flap cleaned at next service.

You can check function of the flap easily.
With engine off, undo the big black hose going into motor (front of engine, prise off clip with flat screwdriver) and see if you can push the flap inside, if it is difficult or won't budge it's likely seized open.
It's function is to close for a few seconds when the ignition is killed, then remains open, and allows for a smooth turn off.

It was exactly this in the end!! Got one from ECP as well, just got to fit it now.
