Scratch on driver's door - please help!

Left work and on returning to the car discovered this little beauty...



Obviously, I was fuming. Initially I thought "oh, it's just another cobweb" (this has happened before), but oh no. It's a scratch.

Anyhow, not doubting my faith in civilisation I looked at it and thought, this is accidental.  I haven't annoyed anyone lately, why would it be deliberate? That doesn't mean I didn't want to say a few choice words to whoever did it though.

When I got home I whacked a bit of SRP on it and it already looks better, but it's still there, and more relevantly it can be felt when you run your finger over it.

So my question is this. What's the best way to get rid of it? G3 scratch remover paste? Meguiars Scratch X 2.0? Or should I be asking for recommendations on a good body shop in north Kent??

I'm wary as this is the first car I've had with pearlescent paint, so I haven't touched the T-Cut.  Any tips/advice welcome.

AG SRP contains fillers that may temporarily improve the appearance but will wash away after a while. If you can catch a nail in it then I'd say that ScratchX may improve it a little but won't get rid. I speak from experience; I have shadow blue GTI that shows every little mark. I've lost track of the amount of ScratchX I've used on it.

You could get a quote for a Smart Repair from a Chips Away type outfit. I've used them a few times and always had good results at a reasonable price.

If the car is black and the paint is looked after you might get away with just painting the door to be honest,i lot of dark cars you can get away with not blending and the results are good,but would definately say it wants paint

I've seen scratches before similar to this that have been erased with polishing. I would say take a good long look on the detailing part of this Forum, you might even find someone close to help you. Good luck!
