I think that "who's map is best" is like every other question which asks which is 'best' - It's somewhat subjective in that what's "best" for one person isn't necessarily "best" for another.

For example, I think that R-Tech's mapping of James's GTI is awesome but, although I haven't driven it (and a passenger ride wouldn't tell me), looking at the plotted curves I think I prefer the curves and balance of my Revo 2 with less maximum bhp. I am of course thinking in terms of practical road use.

Is that graph scaled right?

My understanding is that power and torque should cross at 5250rpm...

Because the torque and power axis rise at a different scale the torque will not cross the power at 5250 rpm.

However, it doesn't matter, because if you look at the graph, the power and torque at 5250 rpm are at the same value, so theoretically they would cross at 5250 with identical power/torque scales

Its just because the bhp and torque scaling is different...

Beaten to it...

Just to add a bit more to that Robin, Nick can set up your car to be an exact replica of a Revo curve (if thats what you were after) as it is a true custom map. You could draw a curve on a piece of paper, hand it to nick and he will reproduce that in your map (within the limits of your car's hardware though)

Or you could take it for a drive and advise Nick of where you want a bit more oomph or a less agressive spool etc and he will make the changes accordingly.

Theres an infinite range of adjustability throughout the rev range with mapping a car, ranging from all out power (like James) or just a 10bhp increase across the range if you really wanted, your not tied down to following a particular curve.

I'll shut up now as i'm starting to sound like R-Tech's chief salesman

That's useful to know but R-Tech is much too far away from me and I'm very happy indeed with Revo and JKM. It works well so I won't mend it.

Totally agree, it wouldnt be worthwhile to you. I just wanted to get the point across that a custom map really is totally customisable to your driving style and doesnt have to be a particular curve :happy2:

Rich.....only messing / carrying on some banter from FB.

The car has over 300 lb ft of torque in the mid range. I don't need anymore even though it didn't quite reach the same bhp figures as a run at SRR back in April with the old map. The car drives lovely, curves are smooth, and it goes well.  :happy2:
