Getting the primer on after all the prep is a great milestone!

Quick update i removed the chassis leg lip so i have more clearence with the drive shaft then welded it back up for strength



And found another gearbox with the code i wanted ENJ this has a higher ratio than the current gearbox and will allow a better cruising speed, i may even be able to put a little more power down in 1st,2nd and 3rd haha

gave it a quick clean i haven't decided on colour yet paint it silver or same colour as the body like the previous box?

just had a quick flick through and love mk1's im about to move in to my mates house how has a garage and he didnt think itd be a selling point to tellme it has a built in engine harness and pit! so id love to start a mk1 project!

Excellent progress.

Ive owned a few Mk1s, and its my intention to get another at some stage. It wont be a show car though, i prefer throwing them around a track.

cheers mate and although this will be show worthy i will drive it as its just to much fun to be a trailer queen, probably wont track it though

so ive removed the gearbox and checked the clutch it has hardly any wear but does have a little bit of movement in the centre drive so il replace it






carrying on with the colour coded parts theme the paint on the oil filter housing is looking shabby to so ive removed it ready to treat and paint

Wish I had the time and the space to tackle something like this. I could have sworn I saw this car advertised on ebay a couple of years ago when I was considering buying a mk1.

re-sealed the joins on the inside of the bonnet today instead of the horrible factory stuff that was all un even
