GTI badges front and rear!
« on: October 05, 2012, 08:56:01 am »
Hi Guys,

Just got a red and silver gti front and rear badge and can't wait to put them on the car!

Now the question is front and rear badge glued to the body of the car?? What's the best way to attach it? Double sided adhesive tape?

Thanks
Paul

Mine had some sticky bonding on the reverse when I bought them. If you need it, a how/where to place them....

I bought a roll off ebay £3. 1mm/2mm thick 5mm wide. Held the badges on for the last 4 months without any issues

For the front badge, remove the grille and then pop off the mount that's clipped into the grille. Heat the mount up with a hairdryer - softens the sticky pads. Remove the badge letter by letter. If you want to get the spacing spot on, remove and replace one letter at a time. Before you stick on the new badge, heat up the sticky pad. Press and hold.

Mine have been on for more than 18 months like this.

For the rear, use low tack tape to create markers for the letters. Again, heat up with a hair dryer. Use dental floss to remove the letters.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
