Petrol.
« on: August 30, 2009, 02:30:42 pm »
Hello everyone,

By now I expect everyone is more than aware of the MKV GTIs preference for 98RON petrol.

What I am not so sure about, however, are the fuel additives in various petrol brands. I understand that there is very little additive but that it is claimed to help clean injectors etc.

In other peoples opinion is this just marketing hype or is there really any need for additives.

Is there ever any real reason to add your own additive in normal use.

The reason I ask is that I can get 98RON fuel but as far as I know there are no additives in it.

Thanks for the help.

depends which brand of 98RON u use.

VPower does contain additives and in their own research helps clean the injectors and other bits to aid performance.

i wouldn't bother adding a seperate additive mind if the type u use don't have it (unless its octane boost).

I usually use V Power, but used Tesco99 for the first time last week.
Noticed no difference whatsoever.
These are the 2 I would always stick to.
