Will I need to change Can Bus?
« on: October 12, 2012, 03:44:22 pm »
Hey guys, I'm very close to buying a RNS 510 Version B (V8 maps / 3800SW) and want to also buy the BT module for it. I need to know if I'll need a new can bus for this?

Do I have to check my existing one? Any idea how I do this?

Thanks

Hi Eddie, it's a 2005, date of first registration in the UK was 01/11/2005.

Hi Eddie, thanks for the quick response.

I'm a very much novice in this, and looking to buy this http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,54944.0.html

Would I need a uncoded or precoded gateway?

How much are they from you please? And also can you point me into the direction of getting a Bluetooth module to install at the same time?

If you don't have access to vcds then it's easiest/best to get Ed to precode it for you.
Without traction power is nothing!

Thank you, that will be the option I guess, as I can get the RNS fitted with GPS etc at a local car audio place.

Do you have the factory sound pack option as if you do you'll need to get the sat nav coded using vcds.

I believe so, it's the standard sound system with the vehicle, it doesn't appear to have been upgraded or anything.

This is beginning to become an expensive addition!

Not really as I'm pretty sure if something needs coding then a helpful local member with a vcds cable will see you right.

No doubt, I meant for the unit and the canbus and BT itself!

Especially just after Xenons.
