Flush fit bonnet pins

I've had the carbon bonnet a while now and love it but have noticed it lifts slightly at one corner due to the strut being to strong, this wouldn't normally be a problem but at Bedford Autodrome on the straight at 135mph a few weeks ago I thought it might go from a carbon bonnet to a carbon windscreen!!

To put my mind a ease I've fitted some AeroCatch flush bonnet pins (www.AeroCatch.com)

Firstly painted them Candy White and replaced black fixings with Stainless Steel.



Bonnet lifting



Drill and fix pins



Mark pins on underside of bonnet (tippex)



Drill through and line up cross hairs



This should sort the men from the boys!









Need to cut extra for access to nuts









Piece of cake, although I was a carpenter for 20 years, whether its Carbon Fiber or Wood the principles are still the same: measure twice cut once, always blame the tools, never be more than an arms reach from tea, Allow Darlin on your way to a photo shoot?, etc etc.

They look sick. You know theres a serious engine under the bonnet when you need pins to hold it down!  :happy2:

Your CF bonnet must be an OSIR (vent is the giveaway) - Same as mine.

Hmmm, if I experience even the slightest hint of bonnet lift on the German autobahns, I'll be using it as an excuse to do this uber cool looking (but safety precaution) mod.

like the way you took the time to paint them white + replace the fixings to stainless, brill.

I need a bonnet vent fitting too please :laugh:

I had the same issue of lift with my bonnet, but found out that I could lower the bonnet catch lower section first and it lines it up great.....bit too late for you though :drinking:
