HOW TO INSTALL HALO LED HEADLIGHTS
« on: October 07, 2012, 09:21:41 pm »
Hi,
My first post - sorry it's a question needing help.
I have a MK5 Golf, GT Tdi 2004 model which I only recently purchased. The headlights I have in the car are the original factory standard but have had aftermarket HIDs fitted. These have been throwing up the odd error message "front left parking light defective" when starting up with the yellow lightbulb display also showing. They have canbus adapters, all connections etc. fitted although they are different types for each side (not the best installation TBH).I've taken advice and been told by a local expert that the only way around it,is to fit properly compatible HID lights at a cost of £130 including installation.Rather than do that,I was also thinking of taking the headlights out and removing the HID's and having replacement Halo LED  headlights installed (with no HID's).One of the forum members is selling Halo LED headlights which look good in the Car Parts for sale section "youngy1989".The only issue I have is whether my electric levelling switch (small dial on dash) will work with these. The seller tells me that they didn't work on his.Could this be because the Halo lights do not have levelling motors (seller dosen't know). The electric levelling I have on my existing headlights works fine. I wouldn't want to purchase these lights and not have the levelling fuction working.
1)Can these be installed in my car and the levelling motors switched over-is it worth doing?
2)Is the advice I'm getting for overcoming the headlight error message on my current lights accurate and reliable?
3)Any other advice or suggestions you can give?
I really do not know anything about this, so hopefully someone can spare some valuable time and help.
Thanks in advance

Why don't you just un-install the HID kit and plug your original bulbs back in?

Or get upgraded bulbs. Mtec or osram nightbreakers. Job done for about £20
