G247 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION.
« on: October 10, 2012, 10:30:46 pm »
Just to let everybody know you cannot fit a BWA(KO3) G247 into a BYD(KO4) engine.

Something to do with single point signal on the BWA and two point signal on the BYD.

If you have the BWA G247 in a BYD you will get a 'lean at idle' fault and 24mpg even on a long run.

I hope this helps everybody.

I am not sure yet but my MPG has gone from a 23mpg average to 36mpg average so its looking likely.

Do I dare work out how much its cost me in fuel :scared:

Wouldn't this not be dependant on what ECU you are running?
BWA ECU and BYD engine would mean running the G247 of the BWA right?

I have no idea.

This information is for cars with the engine that it was originally supplied with.

Somebody else will need to provide that information.

The engine doesn't care what sensor it has, it's the ECU that uses the info from the sensor, so if you have a car originally equipped with  BWA engine you need to use the G247 from that engine when changing to for instance a BYD or BHZ  :happy2:

My reason for bringing this up is your first post stipulates that a certain sensor in a certain engine code isn't a viable solution, that IMO is wrong.
You need to match sensor an ECU  :happy2:

Was this not Illyun's problem way back on his Ed30.

Under a technical bulletin VW had fitted the wrong sensor which led to massive lean running problems.

This  forum isn't just for modified and I would say more than 99% don't change their engine for the BYD.

As I said its for cars with their original engine/ecu .

If it had turned into this I'm not sure I should have bothered.

I think that was a factory fitted sensor to the incorrect spec not the wrong engine/ecu sensor.

I say this because the light would have come on at standard and faulted like mine did.

Please don't feel that, i find it good that you mentioned it but just wanted to make the message clear. I do in no way mean to be annoying bitchy.
