Matt's GT TDI 170
« on: October 11, 2012, 12:06:36 am »
Hi all,

I know It's not a GTI sorry, but here goes,

This is my Golf GT TDI 170, Had it about 2 months now loving the fuel efficiency from my last car.

Also my first german car..... came to this from a clio 197 as I needed some thing practical for both work and I have a little girl and 3 doors was becoming a pain in the arse, I found this to be a pretty perfect mix of performace and practicality.

Heres some pics of my past,

And here are the only few pics of the Golf

So there you have it, I also felt left out last time me and the misses went round her familys the clio didn't feel very welcome in the german family, which also helped persuade me, that and I love the whole 'german scene'

Plus my little girl seems to like it

Thanks for dropping by wouuld appreciate comments and ideas,
I cant see me doing to much this side of xmas as much as I want to anyway, plus It's winter so no point to be honest other than save and collect.

PLANS/QUESTIONS:
Coilover???.....
How low should I go whats needed to go around 70+mm on FK's?

Wheels???......
Thinking 3sdm 0.005 stagged fitment so 18/8.5 and 18/9.5 rears (What tyre size would I need would these fit ok with a simpe bit of arch rolling?)

Asthetics???....
GTI front grills probably carbon front found a company in america which will do a bolt on rather than the masks, has anyone used the masks what are they like?
wind deflectors.
Black halogen headlights
ED30 rear lights

The list can go on and on such as interior etc.......

Thanks
Matt

Car looks good and your little one is loving it, bless her, she looks like mine 20 years ago!  :happy2:

Nice list of mods planned. Is the American company,OSIR? If so, mant peeps (including me) have bought their products. IMO, the best quality C/F parts out there. Best place to get them in this country is through the The TTShop.com. Good peeps to deal with.

Not sure you'll get 9.5" under the arches without some stupid looking camber though but ETTO.

Happy modding buddy.

Guys,

Does anyone on here know anyone who has put 19s on abd lowered it?

In particular I'm looking at some 19x8J porsche wheels with ET57 so with adapters that would make it ET37 in theroy would that make the wheels as if they where 8.5J ET42, if that makes any sence!

Or woul i be better to go with 15mm adapters to make ET 42 but I dont trust just 15mm adapters even though its on 5mm? Anyone done this or have any experience with porsche wheels and having adapters?

Matt

Guys,

What the best tyres for the front on 18x8 wheels? I'm thinking of get some CH reps or LM reps for winter and use 225/40 R18's will these fit under the arch ok as im about to lower it around 70/80mm?

Thanks
Matt
