Dummy Headset

Just stumbled across a page explaining how to go about making a dummy headset with your old stereo front to cover your new upgrade...just wondered if anyone on here had tried this before???..or are there any aftermarket covers you can buy anywhere..just googled and couldn`t see any for the golf.
