Engine management light 55 gt tdi

Hi everyone

debating whether to get a 55 plate gt tdi  from this garage although it has 133,000 and the engine management light is on , he said he will get it checked, its just a small garage ,should i be wary or is it a common prob..Sold my 05 Black Gti about 6 months ago .big mistake !!   :scared:
