Anyone on here using it?

Did some testing today on a 135i, with stage 2 mapping it runs 400bhp/400ftlb. With meth it makes 500ftlb and an extra 40bhp, with a less restrictive inlet (coming soon) we expect peak figures of 500ftlb and 470bhp.

Intake temps down by 30 degrees and EGT's 140 degrees lower.

Not bad for a £200 mod

this will probably be one of the last mods i do purely due to financial reasons and the fact i now live 220mi away from the car and it doesn't get driven regularly.

I have waited and watched loads of kits being fitted to the same engines in the USA, so far no major component or engine failures reported. As long as you have a flow meter to monitor things and pull out boost and timing if meth stops flowing, all seems fine.

Its hardly a £200 mod is it?

£300 for a decent kit and quite a bit on fitting costs as a lot of trim has to be removed to get the controller in and setup time, say £250.

Oh an you'll need a spacer from INA at £75 to protect the plastic on the TB.

But what a mod, I'm going for it next year.

With V Power your looking at an octane rating of 109?

buy the kit from the USA, then its a £200 mod. Its nothing more complex than a high pressure water pump, pulse solenoid and a simple boost vs flow controller.

What's the point of going cheap when you can get the AEM kit for £300.

Do you really want to risk a failure when you have mapped up to it on settings 9-9-9

With the AEM you can use one of the wires to cut the N75 if you run it of water/meth so it defaults to waste gate boost.

You really need that spacer too, to protect your throttle body.

I personally think its best to spend a little more.

I spoke to Keith@APR before buying mine and he recommended against buying any of these all singing all dancing "adaptive and progressive" WMI kits, because the ECU has to permanently try and adjust fuel trims etc trying to second guess the WMI controller as it alters its flow rates throughout the rev band.

He recommended to install a simple "basic boost operated" setup, so i bought the Devils Own Base kit(6-30)psi which including delivery and 4 quarts tank came to £257.

I looked at various kits but the CoolingMist kit I chose uses very high quality components and has proven that it deserves its place in the market.

Have you got any before and after graphs Dave? To show the increases across the rev range?

If someone was to run the meth all/most of the time is it worth upgrading the intercooler on a mk5 GTI as well?
On the US forums a couple of years ago a few were fitting the snow kits and using the washer reservoir asthe tank. I didnt keep an eye on the long term outcome. Have you heard of this being done or wouldyou not recommend it?
