Right I'm considering changing my PCV now, I also have a 57 plate edition 30.

Should I just get the Rev N housing or do I need to change the pipes/hoses aswell?

Thanks for posting this info up. I am currently searching for info on the PCV system on my mk6 to see if it works similar to the mk5 as i think mine may have gone faulty. http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,51922.0.html so this info and links you posted is very useful.

Just the Rev N and rubber sealing gasket I changed on mine aswell.

No mate, haven't logged it, but my bum dyno says it feels better  :ashamed:  :grin:

I will say that, there's now feeling on gear change from N to D on initial move off, and certainly seems a lot smoother up the gear changes as well.. Kind of like it's getting cleaner air and less oiler stuff from the recirculating system.. Might be placebo

I noted the idle was more steady and the boost seemed to come in smoother. Now I fitted the G rev DV, the car is purring like a big puddy tat :happy2:

I replaced all of mine today asell as a new DV, somehow the rear pipe had been crushed and the gasket was missing between the turbo housing, so hopefully might get a bit of extra benefit by fitting a new gasket and  and uncrushed pipe :wink:
The front PCV i removed was already the latest revision, so that was a waste of money :stupid:

Some of you will have had your N revision on for a while now, have you noticed any reduction in oil consumption?

This may have already been mentioned, but you only need to change the rear pipe if your pipe is the valved tipe. I upgraded my PCV to the latest version, but didn't need to change the rear pipe as it was a straight pipe with no valve  :happy2:

Are you sure, as everything I have read, suggests you need the rear pipe with check valve, or the install is pointless ???



Cars that have the rear check valve installed will need the P revision. Cars that have a straight rear pipe need the N revision. If yours needs the P then you will need to upgrade the rear pipe too. If not then you dont need to bother. Both PCV function the same so neither is better than the other.

If you want the latest PCV that will work on the earlier engines without the rear check valve you need the 'N' revision.  They are the same as the P only they work without the need for the rear breather hose as I believe they have stronger spring inside.  I am getting the N revision so I havent got to bother fitting the rear breather hose :jumpmove:

Are we saying if the N for the front system is fitted we should or shouldn't replace the rear breather should the valve inside the rear breather pipe be found faulty?

With the N, no rear check valve is needed so the breather pipe does not need replacing.
