My first VW GTi - Need some help?
« on: October 14, 2012, 12:17:32 am »
I've recently got my first VW Golf GTI 2.0T - I've wanted one for ages and finally the insurance isn't ridiculously stupid.

I want to get some new headlights for it - they are clear halogens but in need of an upgrade. I would prefer some black ones?

I've googled around and found these on awesomeGTi: http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk5/smoked-angel-eye-headlamps-golf-mk5

Rear lights is also another area I would like to improve on the car: http://www.awesomegti.com/car/vw/golfmk5/vw-golf-mk5-urban-style-led-indicator-and-stop-rear-lights-smoked

Can anyone recommend a website or decent products to improve the looks of the front and rear lights?

Many thanks in advance.

I found some nicer ones the bay...

headlights: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Xenon-look-head-lights-lamps-VW-Golf-MK5-GTI-Jetta-Genuine-Hella-UK-RHD-/250900458319?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a6ad52b4f
These are a bit dear... I'm thinking would it worth doing a full xenon retrofit for a little more money.

rear lights: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-MK5-5-V-Hella-Edition-30-Black-Red-Smoke-Tail-Lights-Rear-Lamp-GTI-R32-/320902831919?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4ab74c9f2f#ht_3583wt_1144

will both of these items be ok?

Yes matey, both of those will be good items. Both made by Hella  :happy2:

or

You could always Lamin-X your headlights and get some MTEC SuperWhite Bulbs  :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

….now get to sleep.  Korean F1 will be on soon.

Thanks for the info Monte and the welcome

The lamin-x stuff looks like it worked a treat. Looks great!

F1 is on. I forgot. I'll get some sleep in then. Oh dear.

If you're looking to change the colour of the lense then carlo is right on the money. If you're wanting better light output on a budget get some mtec or osram night breakers for a smaller budget. Or for a bigger budget get some xenons.

^^^^ was just about to post the same as you Moz. Depends on budget, bulbs and Lamin X or genuine Xenons, which pop up on the forum pretty regularly for around £450+.

There are cheaper xenon look headlights if you look around. Mainly from Germany but come in at less than £300 delivered!
