Black 'Ronnie's progress thread
« on: April 06, 2016, 12:30:46 pm »
I picked up this wee one a few weeks back and dived straight into subtle mods. It's only a 1.6fsi but I love it and was lucky in that it's in great nick - first things were to get on some nice Monza's, get some rear tints applied, and black out the badge, as well as generally giving her a thorough spruce-up.

Alloys and tints just fitted, along with bee-sting aerial and other subtle mods:

Blacked out badge and a good clean/finish:

Next up is the Eibach Pro's which I had delivered today. Plus GTI headlight units. Next plans is for a Cupra front lip. Getting there!

Cheers a mil! I have to say it's more hard work keeping the black nice but worth it!

Future plans indeed:
Changed the hazard button today to the nice deep red version
Also changed the head unit to a Sony bluetooth version
Eibach Pro's arrived! Can't wait to get these fitted
GTI headlights arrive tomorrow, likewise can't wait to see them on
Cupra front lip in the future I think, plus GTI skirts
What do people reckon to a black rear badge?! Too much?!
Also want to lightly tint the rear lights...

Then subtle changes to performance will be planned. Any suggestions welcome! Heard it's not worth remapping the fsi engines...probably looking into filters and exhausts etc.

I'd go black badge too. I'd a black gti and swapped out my front and rear emblems to black.
If your tinting the rears mask of the circular middle part and they'll look more OEM.
Nice additions so far, btw!

Cheers a mil chaps...think I'll tackle the back badge sometime soon.

Fitted the headlights this morning - tricky ol' job for a first-timer! Needs a good clean and I'll post up some nice images soon...

Got the grille delivered about fifteen minutes ago. Easiest change ever. Also resprayed the black VW badge into a gloss to fit in with the surround, looks a lot nicer. Plus I did a better job. Ha. More photos to come after I get her lowered next week.

Did a thorough clean this morning...looking fresh again. Took some quick photos.

Cherry red hazard and the head unit I changed a while back:

Current side view. Happy with the way it's coming on. Got the grille front in, black badge, headlights...also had some smoked wing blinkers delivered today which I'll fit tomorrow. Needs those springs fitted...bring on next week!!

Any suggestions on performance? I'm fully aware I'm not going to get a great deal out of the 1.6fsi but any advice welcome  :happy2:

Changed the blinkers today...after cleaning yesterday annoyingly we had builders next door covering everything in the thickest layer of dust
