« on: October 15, 2012, 06:51:59 pm »
Hi everyone well I'm lucky to have a loving sister and her husband work in British airways so free flights for me. But where is good sort of cheapish e.g not Switzerland and for a complete novice for me and my girlfriend to ski for the weekend around the December the 8th for three day. Iv been looking at Mont Blanc in France will there be snow around this time is it good for a first timer or is skiing out the question in December any advice much appreciated  :happy2:

Mont Blanc is good any time of the year. We actually go there more in the summer than in the winter. I wouldn't particularly recommend the slopes to beginners though. You're far better off somewhere in Austria.

I'd have a look at Alpbach. Haven't been for years but its where we'll probably take our young son on his first trip.

I think Innsbruck is the closest, but Salzburg can't be too far also.

I've never managed Geneva to Chamonix in less than an hour on the Autoroute Blanche. My parents have an apartment opposite the train station car park in Argentiere, so that's a further 20 minutes. You've got to be doing some speed to do Geneva to Chamonix in 30 minutes!

However I still think Innsbruck is still the closest airport to Alpbach, which I think was the question :happy2:

I learnt to ski in Borovets, Bulgaria. Dirt cheap and a few beginners/intermediate slopes. :happy2:
