Will this harness work?
« on: October 15, 2012, 06:54:41 pm »
My RCD300 has packed in and just glows blue with no writing on the screen and no sound being produced so I've decided to put my old single DIN stereo, just ordered the facia adapter from the VW dealer and just looking into the wiring harnesses, don't want to spend a fortune. Would this work?

Yeah but i want some better sound anyway, need a sub in that thing was crap. if that harness will work I've got everything else sorted so will be cheaper than buying a new RCD300 anyway.

You will need a radio adaptor, these in my experience never fully replicate the original radio reception.

Yeah I'm not bothered about the radio I never listen to it, just want to know if that harness would work? Don't have steering wheel controls or anything like that and not bothered about any of the dimming or volume increasing when you go faster stuff. Aslong as it will play I'm a happy man.

Also you will need to connect the power to a switched live. The adaptor seems to be right.

As above, you should be ok with the adapter in the link. Worst comes to worst you will have to run a switched live from the fuse box as mentioned already. I would try the adapter as it comes and see how you get on before running any additional wires. The Connects 2 adapter should be plug and play.
