Servicing update - Oil and Spark Plugs

I went to TPS at Lincoln to get some bits for my car as it was due a service. It would appear that VAG is now moving to 5w 40 oil and not 5w 30 anymore, as that is what the Platinum oil is now as standard. It also has additives to help prevent oil deposits from building up so you dont have to use oil flush when changing the oil.

Also I purchased some spark plugs and was expecting to get the NGK PFR7S8EG. However they have moved back to Bosch and the Bosch plugs are also now a step colder.  They do offer the NGK as an alternative but I believe the Bosch plug is better made. The Bosch plug part number is FR 5 KPP 332 S.  The 5 represents the heat range as the old Bosch plugs were 6.  Bosch use the lower the number the colder the plug. Where as NGK go up the number range for colder plugs.  The VW part code is still 06H 905 611.

Cheers. Up until recently I had the Bosch 6's, my car started 1st turn every time, but since moving to the NGK Iridium 7's, the car takes 2 r 3 turns to start up, and is v gingerly if v cold!

I have noticed that since I put the same in mine although it will start on the first turn it cranks for a few seconds first which I find wierd for the age of the car!

Did you change the gap matey?

Suddeny dawned on me, lol, I thought I was making a step up when changing to Iridium 7s, when in reality the Bosch scale is totally the opposite, I feel a numpty now, lol!! Thats y I love this forum, the truth rears its head in the end! :-D

Both plugs on those links are the same just different descriptions. Those are the ones i have.

I'm a little confused! there are a few threads in regards to the best spark plugs to use....
I am about to have my car remapped (REVO), forge panel filter, milltek cat back and realised my spark plugs havent been changed since at 57k (now at 83K).

What plugs should I be using?! 
NGK 7's?
Bosch 6's or 5's?

I'm just confused as to the 'coldness' required? ie do i need a 'colder' plug due to the remap.

I've read recently that the NGK7's have caused issues for a few posters which i would like to avoid!
