low oil light

today my low oil light came on so i topped up the oil level to the appropiate level and now it hasnt come off again? i keep checking the level and its maintains just below max but the light wont go away?

Anyone got ideas as to why the light is still on ?

Will probably be a faulty sensor mate. I had a similar issue where it would throw the check oil level message. Would check and top up if needed and would disappear only to come back a few days later. Check the level and it hadn't moved. All I used to do was open the bonnet for 20 seconds or so and close it again. The message is tied in with the bonnet switch so it knows if you've opened it or not. Just tie in getting it changed at your next service as you will need to drain the oil to do it.

Had the same thing happen last year on a previous car which strangely turned out to the bonnet catch on the way out. Give the catch a damn good seeing to with some WD40 to clear grit away from the microswitch.

had the same problem but the light went off a couple hours after topping the oil up.
