DSG advice please

So I've just bought myself an edition 30 DSG with Revo engine software. The mech unit was replaced under warranty at around 9,000 miles back in 2008. The cars now on 72,000 miles. The car has full history with one owner. Part is VW service history and the rest is VW specialist service history. Has been serviced every 10,000 miles

I've owned the car for just over a week and noticed the DSG box is showing symptoms of a faulty mech unit such as, jerking in reverse, jerking in first gear at slow speeds, the odd hesitation from first to second gear and the odd clunking noise too. The jerks aren't violent & only happen (in reverse) when applying small amounts of throttle. When more OR less throttle is applied its pretty smooth. It's the same In first gear too.

Im having the DSG and throttle reset early next week and I'm hoping that should cure it. There's a high possibilt it won't tho. So my options are,

*Get the DSG service early, should I get this done from VW or a VW specialist? They are both the same price but if it came down to me paying for a new mech unit, would it help I've had the DSG service from VW themselves for them possibly giving me some sort of goodwill?

Other option is send it into VW and get them to check the mech unit and report back whether it's faulty or not, if that's poss?

Just start with the DSG reset first, it might just be that the clutches need calibrating. Mine sometimes sounds a bit clunky especially when gearing down to 2nd, and can be a very slightly jerky at slow speeds, I'm going to try the DSG basic reset.

When did you last have the DSG service?

When did you last have the DSG service?

From what the previous owner told me the last DSG service was done around 38,000 miles. I'd imagine VW "should" have carried out a service at around 8,000 miles when the mech unit was replaced under warranty?

Hopefully the reset will help somewhat, just feel as if the box should be a lot smoother & DSG services should be a lot more often.....

Yea not far off that time, was yours a bit jerky before the service?

Planning to get the DSG service some point before Xmas, still unsure whether to go stealers or specialist?

It wasn't quite as smooth as normal, but i wouldn't call it jerky. I wasn't unduly concerned, put it that way.

My main dealer charged me £160 for a DSG service, so there's not much saving to be had (if any) by going to a specialist.

Try to run it also in stock mode for test. I have revo stage 2 in my GTI and it really doesnt cope too well with dsg. In stock mode Im quite happy how the gearbox works, but as soon as I put in a high performance mode it starts to suck. Biggest issue is when you want a moderately fast getaway from stop or slow speed, stock mode runs the revs quite high eagerly but in tuned mode I get a jerky-as-hell shift from 2nd to 3rd when it shifts too early. Basicly in stock mode car does exactly what I want it to do, but when tuned not so. If I keep the settings low at about 3-2-9 (BTF) it shifts as good as stock. I might be wrong in my analysis, but to me it feels like the engine software torque communication to gearbox has been modified (so the torque limit is passed) and due to this, it doesnt work aswell as the stock mode.

My main dealer and local specialist charge the Same price, it's just generally main dealers have a bad rep for not doing work correctly sometimes. Think I'll stick with VW on this one tho

I'll get the reset on both throttle and DSG, service and go from there. If all else fails I'll revert back to stock. Cars only running 303hp from a Revo stage 1, thought the box should handle this no probs. It's the main reason I went for a DSG
