Steering wheel upgrade/insurance question?

Wondered if I would need to inform my insurance company when I upgrade to a paddle shift wheel?

Out of interest how would they know if they was ment to have the paddle shift or not?

They probably wouldn't, but i am guessing if you were involved in a serious accident or claim, they would look under every stone to reduce the claim by you or other parties against them. I doubt your costs would go up apart from maybe an admin charge.

I work for an insurance company, and it's my job to review undisclosed modifications.

My advice, always tell the insurance company.

Some companies that fall under my bracket simply won't be bothered, and some companies I work for do, for the slightest.

Some invoke additional premiums from inception, some state avoidance of the contract and some simply accept under normal risk.

Again, each policy is specific, but generally if it a manufacturer's upgrade then these are often classed as OK, although you may pay higher premium. Only if the upgrade is available for your car.

IE Sticking a MSFW on a 1.6 golf that never came as an option with one won't always be classed as OK.

Literally does depend on the company, and also the engineers to spot potential none disclosure issues.
