Engineering Degree

Howdy ladies and gents,

Selling my business and going for a career change into the world of engineering. I've started an open uni degree, 'Bachelor of Engineering'. Going to take about 5 years. If anybody on here is in the engineering world would I be able to very cheeky and pester for some opinions and queries i might have throughout the course of the degree.  :scared:

The degree focus' mainly on design, technology and engineering. I was aiming to go into the design area. i enjoy pretty much all aspects, precision, mechanical, constructional, heavy mechanical and industrial. Again i'm just starting so i'm open to anything I can learn. Don't want to be making asuptions about an industry when I have no experience. Hopefully things should be moving by the early part of next year so can start looking a job in the engineering industry.

already completed my first assignment, so cracking straight on with the next.  :scared:

construction is dead mate so watch out for that in 5 years time it may pick up again am a mrics chartered building surveyor been out of work for 2 years now did a course in asbestos surveying  so looking at jobs in that which for the faint hearted is like achieving a masters and then doing a nvq course good luck mate

I've an engineering background also. Started off with my current employer as an apprentice in the workshop, and now am a Design Engineer currently on a day-release programme with a university doing an Honours Degree in Mechanical Engineering. I looked at Open Uni but couldn't see myself being disciplined to do it all by my own motivation.  :laugh:

My work specialises in Hydryaulically powered mechanical products for the marine envirinment, mainly for the UK MoD and Navy's in other countries. We don't currently compete in the comercial market (much).  :happy2:

Structural Engineer here... Tough times, but we seem to be busy, but it's cut throat pricing at the moment...

Oil and Gas is where you want to be. A couple of mates from uni seem to be doing very well and get to travel all across the world.
