Time for a seat change.....
« on: October 04, 2012, 06:55:33 pm »
Hi folks and greetings from sunny spain. I haven't been on this (excellent) forum as I have bought back my old Corrado vr6 & am in the process of converting it to manual! The gti is still going well and would appreciate some advice. I am 99.9% certain that mark vi seats fit in a mark v and the reason I ask is that I have come across (in bilbao 1000 km from here.....) a set of leather seats from a mark vi CONVERTIBLE. Would these still fit my mark v ok? Ie, is the floorpan still the same etc. Any advice gratefully received, many thanks matt

iirc the seats will fit but wait for someone with more experience to confirm this.

Shouldnt see why they wouldnt fit. May have issues if they are heated / electric and getting that to work but thats just the wiring side of things mainly

They have the heating element which I would probably just leave alone. In terms of rake and reach its the standard manual adjustment which is what I want as I dont want (ie won't) to ask someone to start hacking into the loom. As said I am virtually certain mk vi and mk v are interchangeable ( it's on this forum somewhere....) its the convertible aspect that concerns me. By the way have any of your good folk ever changed a heater matrix???? Took me 10 hours yesterday on the corrado, pig of a job!!!

Hi folks, nearly there now just a final question. Have located a leather interior from a 2006 A3 which I think will do the trick. Just one slight glitch is that one of the airbags has fine off on one of the bolsters. This can be repaired can't it? Ie just stitched back together, the airbag I am not so bothered with.....many thanks in advance, matt
