Light bulbs
« on: October 19, 2012, 09:10:35 am »
Just wondering if anyone could tell me which bulbs are best? I want a better beam as in more of a white xenon type glow. Headlights and fog lights...

You'll need x2 sets of H7s.

People use Osram nightbreakers, Philips Extremes and MTECs. I personally prefer the MTEC H7s.

For the fogs, I believe you'll need a "9006" fitment bulb, of the same brands as above. Unless your fogs are projectors and then they might be H11. Best to check first.

If you don't want the yellow tint from the lights, I'd go for the Mtecs. I much prefer the look of them to the Osrams, no yellow tint at all.

I found the Osrams to be very yellow compared to the Mtecs. Only company that sells them in the UK are Hids-Direct, you can buy direct from their website or on ebay.

Would these be the ones?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MTEC-H7-12v-55w-SUPER-WHITE-HID-XENON-CLASS-UPGRADE-BULBS-/270925672238?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AVW&hash=item3f146daf2e

I have the Xenon lights so would like to use these for the main beams... Would these still fit?

cheers  :happy2:

There the ones i have, you'll need to check what bulb type you have for your main beam to get the correct fitment.  The Hids Direct website has all the fitments options available.   :happy2:

I have those Mtec's in the dipped beam as they give a nice white light. But I have Osram Night Breakers in the main beam as they produce better light, I could see further down the road when I had them in the dipped comparared to the Mtec's, and as the main beam is for when you need more light I went for that setup (even though they still have a yellow tint).
