Do 55W HID kits need to be Canbus?
« on: October 29, 2012, 10:24:11 am »
Lots of info about comparisons between 35W and 55W (and the general consensus seems to be that in projector headlights the 35W 6000K doesn’t produce a lot of light output -having tried the 35W kit I would tend to agree). The 35W needs to be canbus because it draws less wattage than the 55W halogen bulbs.

But I’ve seen “canbus 55W kits” on ebay as well (albeit seem to be rare). The cynic in my says it’s just a regular 55W kit being sold as “canbus” for more because people don’t know any better.

The reason I say that is; if the whole problem is due to the amount of draw down by these kits compared to halogen bulbs, then surely a 55W hid draw down is the same as 55W halogen draw down?

Can anyone shed some light on my theory?
