Not a good start to GTi ownership!

Sounds silly, but does it have plenty of fuel in? Did you get 2 keys with it? Tried both?

Last stop was to put fuel in it, no only one key

It would need put on VCDS to find out what the problem is... If coil pack one has went faulty, that was cause it not to start...

If it's not broke, Mod it.....

VCDS or vagcom is a cheap but very very good vw/Audi diagnostic tool. This may help diagnose the fault. Look at the engine speed while cranking to check the crank sensor is working.

A dead coilpack isn't likely to stop it from running, these engines will run with 2 coilpacks completely unplugged.

When you turn the ignition on do you get the engine management light on the dash?

Got an auto spark on it and it was a coil pack. What's the best way of doing it ? Replace just one or all 4 ? Should I go standard or upgrade ? If upgrade I take it that's edition 30 ? If so where's best to source

Thanks

VW did a re-call on coil packs. Take your's to the dealers  & they can check if they need/have been done & if they do need changing under the re-call it's free. :happy2:
ED35. Standard factory condition.

Do you know what coilpack was causing the problem, was it number 1.

When looking at the engine the 1st starting from the left?

1 2 3 4.

Sometimes it can blow a fuse too.
If it's not broke, Mod it.....

It was drivers side number one. First off I got an auto electrician out and he traced it back to the said fuse, replaced tge fuse and saw the coil smoking....

Then took it to VW who sorted it all and gave it a clean bill of health.
