Miltek downpipe fitment problem!!
« on: August 27, 2009, 07:54:24 pm »
Hi Guys looking for some much needed help as I have a problem, As some of you may know I recently purchased Jonny c's Miltek downpipe and sportscat for my Ed30 It arrived fine but tonight I was in my garage have a look at how to fit it to my car and came across a problem the down pipe looks as if it will fit fine but the connecting pipe that slides onto the cat has a flanged end where it joins to my existing non-res miltek pipe Which has a sleaved end on it  :scared: Now I have the resonated box aswell which is off the car and in my garage so i tried mating them up but it won't go as it also has a sleaved end as opposed to the flange end of the new cat pipe?!

Any ideas guys?  As I've pm'd Jonny just now aswell for some info

here's some pics

flange end of new catback pipe

flange pipe with sleaved end the joins to dwnpipe which is Ok

flange end of cat pipe which should join to my existing resonated miltek box but doesn't

Another view of different ends of the pipes

I think you need a connecting sleeve, and I think I might have what you need.  I will need to check at work, and it can be yours for the postage costs if I can find it

Yeah its a 3'' downpipe Hedge :happy2:

I thought Ed30 system was 2.75" or 65mm.  :sad1:

I'm sure a reducer will work.  :happy2:

I think the connecting pipe is wrong. Only 30 notes for a new one. Should be like this on mine:

Hope you get it sorted. Could just cut and sleeve.

Yeah, the systems are 2.75"
The down pipes are 3"
It should come with a reducer to fit it to the miltek system.

On my soot chucker, the DPF removal pipe is 2.5" and the system (same as ED30/GTi) is 2.75" - my reducer was missing :( .....

.....so i made one, contacted Miltek, the helpfull chap Pete sent me one out FOC the next day

If you need one, contact Miltek, they are only acouple of quid to buy

Don't judge me by your ability !

I was there doing some development testing for a different size back box and resonator section, as the res version I had was far too quiet and the non-res far too droonie/boomie at mway speeds.

I now have a nice sounding "part res" system

These will evenutally become options for the Mk5 on the Milltek price list  :pomppomp:

Jammy Toad :P  Think I'm going to put my resonator box back on when the downpipe gets fitted as the non-res pipe like you say is quite boomi at motorway speed with the map switched on  :driver:
