First day with my mk5 gti (pics added)
« on: October 25, 2012, 08:15:06 am »
Well the day started early with a 160 mile round trip to collect the car bloody cold but stunning day. Got to the garage before most of the staff and had 1 of the quickest handover ever (3 mins max) and off I went.
I have found the car to be very jekal and Hyde total docile when your pootiling around at low speeds but drop it a cog or two and engage the led foot and you can make the most well seamed passenger go funny colours lol.
I completed 360 miles yesterday which wasn't bad as I also changed all bulbs I could to led/smd really crisp look with the aluminium inside.
I had done a fare bit of reading before picking this car (many thanks to the forum and the contributers) and went for a manual with a good spec (leather, winter pack, hids, full climate, auto lights wipers and mirror, cruze, monza2) in metallic grey.
Over all delighted tho missed two probs with the car. 1 seems to be pretty common, centre brake light. The other not seen mentioned led indicators in wing mirror dead? But yet again thanks to you guys i have found how to fix both so it's off the the stealers this morning.

Hi monte yeah I'm a bit of a forum addict when it come to buying a new car lol and with the info on here I knew what to look for.
In fact (fingers crossed) I struck it lucky as the prev owner seems to have been quite a carful one and a bit of a VW lover. Two sets of mats rubber and carpet loads of service info and stamps 8 in total only got 50k on the clock and stamped up recalls sheet.
Will try and get photos up soon but only got a iPad so not to sure how to go about it but hay il have a look on the forum lol.

Cheers

Welcome along Jamie!  :happy2:

Sounds like you have yourself a winner there. Any plans for your new purchase?

Use my iPad at work and works a treat for posting Pics. Use Photobucket (they have a free app), take a photo, download it (or transfer it if taking the photo with the iPad) to Photobucket and copy and paste into your post. No excuse now, get them pics up!!

Cheers, Martin

Welcome to the forum

I still remember picking mine up, almost 2 years ago now, I was so excited. Like a kid waiting to get a birthday present they really really wanted.

The 140 mile drive back was absolutely brilliant. I still get excited when taking it for a drive now.

You will really enjoy it :happy2:, especially once you have some mods under your belt

Welcome!!!

Great choice of car, had mine now 18mths and its fair to say that if I dont actually keep the car I've got for a very, very long time I'll only be replacing it with another Golf Gti, never owned a VW before this let alone a Golf and I'm hooked.
Laser Blue 3dr No 209683, Leather, Monza II's and a few other goodies...........GONE but not forgotten......now in an A4 S-Line Avant 170tdi......god I miss the Gti.
