They are just monza 2's with blask inserts instead of grey. Greenhouse did a set, think he sold them now though
Yup - to me!

He does have a set of black monzas with a red rim I believe.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

I'm looking to get mine re-done soon but unsure how - original, black inserts or smoked chrome - the only thing putting me off smoked chrome like RR's is loosing the sharp edge of the inserts - but I plan to ask if this can be kept and just maybe get the faces smoked chrome - the only thing with keeping them diamond cut is there very likely to white worn in the future again.

I want to get some 18's and put the black inserts in,
Are those originals, or copies though as the black doesn't look quite right on them in my opinion.

....If you want two colours with a sharp edge between (to inserts), the ONLY way this can be done is to have the whole wheel painted any colur and to then diamond-cut it back to the alloy and clear lacquer it.....And wait the white worm!

If any wheel refurb company tries to tell you that they can achieve a sharp guaranteed edge between two colours on the Monza's (not by diamond-cutting), stay well clear of them!

I personally don't think you can beat the look of the diamond cut finish beit black or grey. As already said, European Ed30's came with a satin black Monza as per below.

^^^^
I much prefer the satin finish to either the matt or very glossy blacks on the German Ed30 'Monza's' (Huffs?).

I was mearly putting my view across about re-furbished one's and as you say the problem with Diamond cutting is they wont last that long on the UK roads, it only takes a slight chip - it was the same with the BBS RC's on the 25th Anniversary which also makes you wonder why they do it.

sorry RR, but looking at those in the picture makes it look like its caked in brake dust.
I like the shadowed inserts as well as the black ones.

Think that's what he meant when he said:

RR's got a thread somewhere about his rims when they were newly powdercoated. They look great in the flesh.
