DSG gear change problems
« on: October 30, 2012, 11:44:00 pm »
i think this is the right palce to post this:

i got a gti edition 30, i notice when i accelarate say in 4th gear by putting my foot down, it doesnt change gear to 5th when its supposed to.  it will change when i let got of the accelration and will change gear correctly.

so in a nutshell when im in D mode and put my foot down it doesnt change up in the right gears, and when im coming down in speed it doesnt always change gears correctly.
as far as i know its totally standard car, whats going wrong?
paddleshift/tiptronic works great, but when in D mode flooring it by putting my foot down doesnt change gears right , helppppp

The box will change when IT decides... There are a lot of variables which go into when the box changed gear. Speed... load on engine... throttle position... etc etc

If you accelerate in D from stand still to 50MPH.... what happens? Does it go through all the gears, 1-6?

Not sure if it goes through all the gears 1 to 6 from stand. Ill try and let u know. Should it do? I assume so.

Just i feel i have lost power when putting my foot down because its not changing up a gear. Im sure it wasnt doing this before, the car was flying when i first got it
For instance today i put my foot down and at 70mph it was still stuck in 4th gear. I lost the power cos it didnt change up to 5th or 6th gear when putting my foot down.

Yes... if you accelerate (just light throttle, as in normal driving) from 0-50mph it should go through gears 1-2-3-4-5-6.

If you accelerate from 0-60mph and it gets 'stuck' in a gear then it sounds like you have a problem

hi
yea the car changes gear fine 1-6 from 0-50mph normal driving.
but same issue if im doing a steady 40mph in 4th gear and put my foot down and hit 70mph the rev counter goes through the roof but it doesnt decide to change gear.  i noticed on occasions when this happens if it take my foot of the gas pedal and back on it then the gear change takes place.  surely this is not right and was not the case previously on the car.

also i noticed today if still at the lights and i drive off the car jumps/jerks when pushing forward in first gear then all is calm, any ideas on that?

ahh this was a user error i realised i need to hit the gas pedal right to the end to hear a click which i wasnt doing. soon as i did that car was flying again.  still getting used to driving a DSG

any ideas when im stationary and then pulling away in first gear the car jumps/jerks a little when pushing forward - then all is fine ?  or is that normal

Are you able to perform a DSG Reset via VCDS? Or can you get somebody near you to do it for you? There's a list of folks on here that have VCDS (Vag-Com). Send one of them (near you) a PM and see how you get on.

HTH :happy2:
