Oil over max
« on: October 29, 2012, 05:37:44 pm »
Just topped up. Level was mid way between min & max. Put in approx 700 ml.

dipstick reading is now above the max. It's gone onto the cable part of the dipstick.

Should I drain some out?

.
The trick when topping up with oil is to do just a bit at a time and check the dipstick after each bit. It's bad to overfill.

Syringe and feeding tube down the dipstick tube and you're half way home.

Just drained a little from the sump. Topped up again, a little more cautiously this time - lesson learned!
BTW you don't need to remove the splash guard to access the sump plug.

Thanks for the advice folks

Too late for the syringe Bacillus, but would be easier than getting under the car for sure :happy2:
