Budget 440 for 4 premium Tyres - Help Please
« on: October 30, 2012, 07:56:13 pm »

Not the best of timing, but I need 4 new tyres. 2 on the front are close to legal, and the back ones, whilst having loads of tread left, one has a nick in it down to the cord  :sad1: As thethe back ones are Conti Sport contact 2's I need to rplace b oth of them as you can't get them anymore, and therefore to keep tread pattern the same they've both got to go.

Could do without this at the moment after my accident, so any help to find some really good tyres in my budget of 440 would be really, really appreciated.

So far I've found Pirelli P Zero Nero's at 116 a corner, which I reckon I can get down to 110 a corner at Tyre City.

Any other ideas? I'd love to go Goodyear Eagle F1, Pirelli p Zero Rosso's, Continental Sport Contact 5 or similar. Anyone aware of any deals or discount codes?

Thanks in anticipation,

Ian.

Just a heads up. You don't need the same tread pattern on the same axle mate.

....Surely you meant to write that you DO need the same tread pattern on the same axle, and you meant that front tyre treads could be different from rear tyre treads. Ideally it's better to have the same tread patterns all round and deeper treads on the rear - Sticky Vicky must be obeyed!

From experience, avoid running Directional treads on one axle and Asymmetric treads on the other - It kicks in the ESP more often and can feel very snatchy to drive.

Some good prices on http://www.camskill.co.uk/m61b0s134p0/Car_Tyres_-_MPV_Tyres_-_People_Carrier_Tyres_-_18_inch_R18_inch_-_225_40_18_225_40R18

These prices are great, but surely they are just for the tyre, not fitting and balancing as well?

Just a heads up. You don't need the same tread pattern on the same axle mate.

That's not what I've always been told on here. I've always been told you should have the same tread pattern on an axle.

Thanks for that, I could get away with 3 then. This price is just for the tyre though isn't it? Not fitting and balancing?

Yes, you will pay £10 a tyre for fitting and balancing, so need to factor that in

Yeah just the tyre only.

I would see if any local places would be willing to fit brand new tyres and what they will charge you for it before ordering.
