APR Golf R wins sub $75k performance challenge

Just seen this from our APR Australia.

Seems their Golf R has literally wiped the floor with the competition, including 3 other Golf R's.

Why dont we have magazines doing challenges like this in the UK??

You say that, but when you consider how big the Japanese, VAG, french and ford tuning scenes are, if they were to combine cars in an "equivalent" set of groups i think there would be alot of interest

So how does this translate into the real world?

I don't see huge numbers of customers flocking to their nearest APR dealer and I don't see APR having much interest in anything other than big turbo specials so far.

think you misread that, for a tuning company to enter a car into that category it had to be sub $75k including car and ALL mods.

So how does this translate into the real world?

Ian, i merely posted the link for those interested in reading it.  Theres alot of TFSI big turbo work going on across the forum recently, so id imagine there's a few guys on here who would read it.

I agree, i think that sort of power is pointless, Ive said the same thing to tfsi_mike many times with his car(Because we all know he will go BT eventually  )

Thanks for clarifying that, Sy - Yes, I had another OAP moment and misread it.  

Even though I have no interest in fitting a bigger turbo, not even a K04, I think that threads about it are very interesting and anyway, it's easy not to read threads if not of any interest. So thanks for posting

Its not relative to our market UK market anyway, Australia pay MUCH more for their cars than we do in the UK

Just had a skim through (so apologies if I missed something) but there is no details of each car's mods and half them seem to be missing from the list of results  
Also, it says the Golf R is 234KW (which equated to around 314bhp IIRC), yet it runs 11's?!?!?! I call BS!!! Unless of course it's just a Golf R shell?

With the sort of money that is spoken about in this test, the results are pretty lame to be honest (with exception of the Golf R). I assume the other Golf R's were manual also (judging by their 0-60 times)? As we all know how easy it is to get daft 0-60 figures from modded .:R's with DSG.

Again its says its stage 4 .. im guessing stage 4 on a golf r is around 500-600bhp ?
