Tdi remap where to go?
« on: November 01, 2012, 06:14:42 am »
Basically I can finally look at maps now my insurance is coming down, but always been dubious over maps as don't want my turbo popping on me with it being a 140 heard horror stories.

Where would people recommend I live north west Warrington way, so I was looking at darkside or r-tec or cc tuning all are roughly a 1.45 from mine just wondered who are the best.

Darkside don't have a rr, does this matter I know they drive your car instead see how it feels but again this seems like guess work but they are tdi specific so should know there stuff.

Any help would be great here never had a map before so a little nervous ha ha.

I'm running a cc tuning map on my jetta and I'm over the moon with it, are you talking about cc tuning in burton on Trent?

I'm near Preston and went to cc tuning for the remap on my 140.

:D
There is also awesome gti in Manchester.

I have a whine from my turbo but it was there before the remap.

Chris at cc tuning knows his stuff about diesels and how to get the best out of them, I've had every car I've owned remapped there and so has my friend all trouble free and before and after rolling road with print outs.

Yep the burton on Trent one mate, that's good to here I wasn't sure as they don't specifically specialise in tdi's.

Awesome I didn't really want to go as they push the generic maps alot

Few options

Darkside - ive used these for parts no experience of mapping
Shark - Did my Stage0,Stage2 and Stage 2+ mapping on my old PD170, it made a realistic 228bhp
CC-Tuning - they are a sponsor on another forum i Admin on (TDISport.com), i have no experience of Chris's  mapping but alot of the people on the forum are happy
R-Tech - No experience of them but from what ive seen Niki is a master of his trade

May i also throw RS Tuning into the mix, My friend has got a PD170 Golf running a Hybrid Turbo,WMI amongst the other usual Stage2 DPF delete mod's hes recently swapped his Shark mapping for RS-Tuning, it made 3bhp less peak power but made 25bhp more through the rev range and now goes a hell of alot better (the Shark mapping was good)

Ok will look at them also, would people say a rolling road is important for mapping or not just more or figures

A mate of mine has just had his 140 mapped at CC Tuning and it does feel very good. Feels more eager low down than my Shark'd 170.

Yeah read your reply. Quite interested in this too actually as I have been wondering whether the map that's on mine is as good as it could be.

The shark mapping is good, My PD170 flew with there Stage2+ map (to smokey for road use)

Jamie has switched because hes got the hybrid turbo/WMI and the ECU wouldn't make the boost the turbo needed without out tricking it into it using a different MAP sensor (i believe), Mikko didn't want to tune this way so hes gone else where and had it done, Peak power is roughly about the same but has made more power else where so hes very happy

I've had the Awesome GTI map on mine now for about 3 weeks, loving it , It may be generic but it gives that little extra that is almost OEM+ , No smoke, nice boot full of power when needed.
