Cheers john_o - very happy with the car. Almost forgotten my K04'd mkiv...

Have seen Daveb's skills before when I was on ukmkiv's - top notch stuff. Cheers for the suggestion - may well go his way if I can't visit somewhere locally.

Good spot - no, no idea why it has GOLF on the rear. I did see that for sale post recently with a slightly suspect ED30 which also had GOLF on the tailgate, but his seemed sort of genuine apart from missing trim and different wheels.
From what I see of mine - no paintwork or work to the rear - just makes me think that the supplying dealer didn't change the badge to GTI.

I remember the days when people were upset their mkiv 1.8t's were supplied with chrome 'I''s instead of the red 'I''s they should have had. Mainly down to dealer prep as the badging in the UK was different to Europe...

A new EDITION30 badge will be fitted once winter is over (this one is a bit flaky), and will fit a genuine US GTI red badge at the some time - will be a good touch against the steel grey!

Hello all - it’s been a while. I’m still here – adding to a few threads when I can. Still learning about the mk5 –it’s a very different car in all ways compared to my old mk4.
The ED30 is going really well – enjoying it very much, just thought I’d let you all know where I am with it at the moment ;

Recently fitted the following;
Genuine VW Edition 30 plaque, no. 1387
New genuine Edition 30 rear mats
New genuine VW Golf Mk6 LED rear numberplate lights (plus Kufatec adapters, just in case)
New genuine VW open fog light grills, with backing covers
Phillips Blue Vision Ultra HB4 fog lights (closer match to OEM Xenon light colour)
New genuine VW pollen filter (charcoal version) & Autoglym aircon sanitiser

List of parts to be fitted;
New genuine VW Edition 30 handbrake cover
New genuine VW Edition 30 rear badge
New genuine VW Red ‘GTI’ badge
RNS510 (version H)
S3 front brakes (to be refurbished in red powdercoat) plus new OEM discs
R32 rear calipers (powdercoated red) plus new OEM discs
S3 aluminium wishbones
S3 aluminium hubs
Superpro WALK kit
Superpro ball joints
MK6 OEM chrome tipped window switches, mirror switch & headlight switch
ECS subframe spacer plate kit
Forge black silicon heater matrix hoses (FMHMMK6/5)
Forge black silicon throttle body hose (FMMKVI)
Forge black silicon Carbon Canister Hose Kit (FMCCHMK5)
Forge black silicon DV to intake return hose (FMRLH)
Smoked mirror indicator lenses
New genuine VW boot pop kit

Maintenance parts yet to be fitted;
New PCV – version N (06F 129 101N), plus new gasket (06F 103 483E)
New DV – version G (06F 145 710G - although my car must already have one due to it’s age?)
New Cam follower (06D 109 309C)

On balance – this is a ridiculous list when I said I wouldn’t mod this one – still, it is all subtle…!

Riiight - bit of an update, now I have found a way to upload new pics. Photobucket seems to freeze everytime I try uploading  :fighting:

With the drier weather, I've completed one of the jobs that has bugged me ever since collecting my ED30 - namely the incorrect badging on the rear;

Other problem was the flakey / faded EDITION30 badge;

So, I dug out the badges and forum guide to badge positioning (just to check the alignment);

I started off by marking up the existing badge locations (once I had checked they were in the right positions);

Took me what seemed like forever to remove the residue with AG Intensive tar remover after using dental floss to remove the badges, but got there in the end;

New badges fitted  :smiley:

Hope you guys approve. I love the red GTI badge on the grey - ties nicely with the EDITION30 badge, and this is a proper US 20th Anni badge I bought years ago, so is OEM!!

Cheers,
Dave

Cheers! I'm very happy with it - the colour I wanted & was lucky it had xenons!

Nice!!

Cheers Rich - wondered if to post up the work or not, and then thought it'd add just a little to the history on the car. I always felt I didn't post enough on my old mkiv, so I will make up for it with this one!
I bought the badge from Awesome years ago - no idea why, but they don't sell them anymore.

Cheers,
Dave
