Thanks N8KOW - car needs a VERY good clean now!

Don't think there will be many changes for a little while - need to recover from the service, etc, but will have S3 ali arms & Superpro bushes fitted next I think, unless I sort the brakes. Wheels need proper refurbishment too, but will wait until winter's over for this job!

Thanks Si - learned loads more about how the car handles down to how wet it was! Car is utterly filthy from that day, plus has grass up the sides  :ashamed: - needs a well deserved clean now I'm back from the USA.

Nice

Thanks. Like all the others you said 'nice' to. It's 'nice' to get praise from members like you.

Wow - it's been ages since I've updated my 'member rides' page. I had loads going on before Christmas, so the car has been a state - haven't really felt there has been much to share with you all!

Not much has changed on the car since October - still loving the VWR Springs and the Milltek Cat back that APS fitted - just quite annoyed that the car feels like it needs an alignment after hitting a bad pothole in December.

However, I've been spending far too much recently - this is my most recent delivery;

Some interior LED's to freshen up the look, and R8 coils to improve the ignition, with RS4 FPR - just to ensure the best for what I have planned...

So, I've decided to go Stage 2+ from the outset. Decided on Loba for the HPFP -  - I have the FMIC bought, recently got the DP. Just the intake to buy now!

Still, must get the brakes fitted before any of that takes place!

After a long, long time of no updates, and saving for parts - tomorrow is the day I will have the chassis nicely sorted on the car... pic of some stuff to be fitted;

Can't wait! H&R ARB's are being fitted too - really looking forward to how the car will drive after this lot!

Got home a couple of hours ago - will do a proper review of my findings, but so far, I find the ARB's & SALK kit to be amazing. Not pushed the car as the M40 and roads around were wet this afternoon.
Will go for a drive tomorrow on some roads I know well, to get a better feeling of how the car reacts now. So far it feels flat & planted  :laugh:

Sorry Damo - I haven't fitted any of the hoses yet. Must get my a$$ in gear and sort them. They are the black Forge hoses though, so would look very subtle. OEM+ is what I want...

Hi Martin - they're actually neither! They were sold to me as S3 wishbones, but they arrived and were Passat numbered parts.
They are ali, and from the research I did - the difference between S3 arms and Passats is just the console. I was replacing this anyway, so it worked out in the end!
I cleaned them, and then acid etch primed - top coat was Halfords aluminium paint - turned out way better than I ever expected!

Went out in the car today - all the float from the front has gone. Love the way it is driving now, and I've barely tested it at all...

Hi Damo - I got most of my hoses from Forge direct, and I bought a set of Black coolant hoses from a chap on here with a very tidy S3.
Shame the MK5 doesn't have the coolant drain tap like a mkiv, otherwise I'd have fitted the coolant hoses by now...

Hello all,

Just realised I didn't really list the work that I had done. It was a very enjoyable day waiting at APS! Here's the full list of works carried out;

H&R ARB's - 26mm front, 22mm rear
Passat (S3!) aluminium front wishbones
Superpro front wishbone bushes
Superpro ALK consoles
Superpro balljoints
ECS subframe spacer kit
R8 coilpacks

The car feels well planted now, and these mods have nicely tightened the chassis, whilst remaining a comfortable ride.

Another subtle OEM touch I always wanted to do was to add the early GTI projector fog lights. I am sure many of you will say it is a waste of money, but I really like the way they sort of match to the Xenon's;

Very happy with the car now - the next mods will be the brakes.

Re: Dave J's Edition 30 - no. 1387 - 2 year anniversary...

Well, I've just realised that today is actually my 2 year anniversary of joining this forum :drinking: !

How time flies, and I do still miss my mkiv which I had for 10 years - ended up with K04 turbo on an AGU engine :driver:;

Poor thing after a 1-series hit it from behind & pushed me into the side of a bus;

Still - have had a great couple of years with my ED30 that replaced the mkiv & this forum has been a great wealth of knowledge and entertainment.

Not made many changes recently - DSG service & oil change earlier in the month thanks to APS though  :happy2:

Must get some more recent pics up of the ED30 though, eh?!
