VCDS deal?
« on: November 08, 2012, 08:12:33 pm »
Saw this on the bay, I have a CEL coming on when the car (2007 ed30, 48k) sits idling for a minute, thought I could buy this and get a clue to the fault for similar money to a dealer/specialist diagnosis.

Will this do it? Any idea if this would also let me turn cruise control on after I fitted the hardware?

Thanks.

No one near me apart from traders, who I assume will charge ? Kind of defeats the objective. Please excuse the newbie questions.

West/east Sussex, nr Gatwick.

Car was fine with a slightly rough idle every now and then, light comes on if it idles for a minute or so.i turned it off with a 10 quid box of the bay which frankly was a waste as it doesn't show the fault code...

Its just the fact its not genuine and you dont get all the benefits from the ross tech lead.

Gatwick is quite far from me , if your ever near chichester way (also in west sussex) i only live a few miles from there and can scan your car for you

Anything wrong with this? http://www.vag-diagnostics.com/sales.html

Nope, 25 squid more but would pay that for a legit product with some support if needed. Is this just diagnostic or does it allow setting of the ECU , ie to retrofit cruise for example.

Ok, no need to shout. I am totally aware of the fact that a copy is usually an inferior product and can be illegal. However the eBay ad doesn't talk about Ross tech at all,so which part is a copy of what exactly?

Is the vag-diagnostics.com product a copy too?
