Trip display query! Can someone confirm please?

Hey all.

Firstly, I apologise in advance for what is probably a silly question....

Anyway...

I really dont understand the different settings on the trip computer that you can cycle through i.e settings 1 & 2?

They read two different MPG averages at the same time, why do they do this and which should I be taking notice of?

Can anyone give me a brief overview at all?

Set 1 are the readings for that trip (including any short breaks) and set 2 are the cumulative readings since the counters were last reset.  So if you set off in the morning say, and then stop somewhere for 10 mins and then drive for another hour, set 1 will show the readings for all the driving you've done that day.  If you stop for more than a certain amount of time, then the set 1 readings will start again from zero as the car thinks you are starting a new trip.

I guess a lot of people will reset the set 2 readings when they fill up with fuel.

I'm pretty sure that the reading on 1 shows your current stats i.e the mpg since you last set off and the 2 is your combined and overall average readings.

You can re-set both 1and 2 by holding down the button on the stalk.

I always wondered this too! Haha, with highline I'm assuming that MPG 1 & 2, MPH 1 & 2, etc all work on the same 2hr principle
