started the car up today and straight away got a knocking noise just as it was starting ? only on starting so turned it off and tried again, there it was again,,, 3rd time nothing ?
sounded exactly like when your exhaust has slipped a rubber mounting,,, same noise and only there when starting the car.
my driveway is very sloped and dunno if that makes a diff ?
drove 20 miles later with no probs and got it on the ramps at garage and went underneath with the guy and absolutely everything is solid with no sign of any problems,,,, weird
sounded exactly like a vibration on starting the exhaust was causing some metal somewhere to bang onto another piece of metal but as I said it went after 2 starts ?
very strange indeed,,, car drives as good as ever and covered 50 miles today with no problems, also was serviced 5 weeks ago, mot'd 3 weeks ago with no advisories, and lastly pre warranty checked 2 weeks ago with the comment that it was just like a new car,,, so I have no idea what this could have been.
I do park it in first gear on driveway but use the handbrake to hold the car before putting it in gear and put it back into neutral before starting up,,,, done that for years on every car with no probs as my silly driveway is very sloped.
any help on this would be appreciated
