How to find a tiny tiny tiny boost leak ?
« on: November 10, 2012, 02:41:48 pm »
Hey guys,

With the annoying squeal I've been having with my 2.0 TDI , it has been suggested I may have a tiny leak in one of my hoses, you know kinda pin prick sort size. Not enough to be logged as a fault code or light etc but enough to give a high pitched squeal when on boost.

Before replacing hoses at will I was wondering if there was any tried and tested ways of finding leaks. Apparently there are like 7 or 8 hoses it could be, not that I know what I'm actually talking about !

Any advice would be truly fantastic as always !

I think you can get a smoke test done to pin point a boost leak.
Without traction power is nothing!

Am lucky as i work in a garage and have access to a ramp, you need to take the under tray of the car and you can see most of the boost pipes, also checkthe inter cooler pipes as well

So would it be worthwhile taking it to a garage I can trust and basically ask them to check all my pipes and hoses , especially turbo ?
