Hi folks
« on: November 12, 2012, 07:25:23 pm »
Just wanted to say hi, just test driven my first GTI. Loved it!! Hope to pick it up at the weekend...Comming from a mk4, 1.6, "S" reg
A few questions for you oracles...
It`s a 08 plate, steel grey, with leather, nav system, cruise control. Going to have the cam-belt done, 1 yrs warantee
I`m paying £12000. Is this about right?
Will be looking into fitting a bluetooth kit. The dealers wanted £400! Any suggestions will be welcome.
Thanks in advance, and I`m sure I`ll be arround with more questions etc.
Best site I`ve come across btw.

Seems a touch expensive is that window price, must be room to knock them down a bit?

Make sure the water pump is changed with the cambelt.

Yeh it sounds a little bit expensive imo.  Considering you can get slightly older models for as low as 6.5k but a dealer is always going to charge you more than buying privately.  Personally i'd buy privately, pay AA or RAC to do a full inspection for less than 100 quid if it looks a good one and you would have saved a fair bit.  If you are getting finance, consider a loan.  Generally finance its not as good APR as you would get on some loans currently.

I intend buying it outright. They wouldn`t move on price, I did try, maybe not hard enough? I did ask for both belt and pump to be done.

You could still do it now. Unless you have left the deposit etc.   Is it from a VW dealer?

Welcome on board!  :drinking:

Seems VERY expensive, for that money you can get yourself a Edition30 or Pirelli.

Do you have a link to the car?

oooops. Yes it`s from a vw dealer here in mid Wales. And left a good deposit. A link? Anthony motors is the dealer, and it is on the website. Oh well, the deed is done now.

That price is about right for a VW dealer car. You get a years warranty and that meant I got a new turbo saving a £1250 bill!
