looking for best looking rear clusters
« on: November 13, 2012, 01:58:50 am »
interested in peoples opinion as to the best looking rear cluster lights for a normal gti.
I actually think the stock ones are good but with led options etc just wondered what you guys thought

would be going on a black car

ps,,, noticed awesome selling led ones but would need wiring as they are European ones,,,, is there uk ones out there ?
thanks

I prefer the Ed30/R32 rears , they are lightly smoked compared to the normal Red ones.

I've got the R32/ED30 lights as well on my Black golf. My "build" thread shows before and after pix. Nothing against LED but for my taste I prefer what I've got fitted and they suit the black IMO.

looked at the link, is the wiring etc set up for the right side on this as I saw a set yesterday but said it had the reverse light etc on the other side and would need additional wiring.
also am I right in thinking replacing the clusters regardless of what ones is simply plug and play ?

^^^^ the 2 internal reflectors need swapping over, that all. Other than that its plug and play (it had better be I am having a go myself). Still looking for a "how to", I've seen it on here ages ago just need to have a good look.

EDIT just been given this link for the mod of light cluster....

holly s**t man, that's looking a scary job ,,,, is it possible to buy the lad version that DOES NOT require you to swap the parts over,,, I guess I mean a uk version and then im presuming it would be plug and play for novices like me  :ashamed:

No UK version Scott, you'll have to do the lens swap if you want this setup.

Looks scary but it's not that bad, get the right tools and take your time  :happy2:

There's a better how to guide in Hurdy's build thread from his old ED30.

That's the one I used, I'll try dig it for you  :happy2:

thanks freddy, still a bit apprehensive about trying this and I would need to buy a dremmel and glue gun to add to cluster price
I guess nowhere sells the units already swapped over ?
am I right in thinking there is 2 types of led rears, this one and is the other the mk6 ones, they are like a half smile led ?
will need to look for some pic comparisons,
