Will do. I'm gunna give it one more try and then hand it over. Wierd stuff.
Ahh numberplates. Something very much dear to my heart....well not really but I get sooooo annoyed at some of the stuff that comes out. Example: On my (now the gf's) mk4 R32 I have my 5 digit private plate (which is to be moved to the mk5 gti). These are cut down plates. These are legal so long as they comply with all the necessary requirments. The Road Vehicles (Display of Registration Marks) Regulations 2001 is the bible for numberplates although it does leave A LOT to be desired.
Vehicles born after 1st September need to have: Character Height = 79mm. Character Width (except the figure 1 or letter I) = 50 mm. Character stroke = 14 mm. Space between characters = 11 mm. Space between groups = 33 mm. Top, bottom, and side margins (minimum) = 11 mm. Space between vertical lines = 19 mm. In additon to the BS marking/place of making etc etc
You can cut down a stand 7 digit plate by a few mm. As for mounting, pretty much anywhere on the front is game. My old R32 had it on the lower left (just under the bumper). The plate needs to be vertical. The numberplate stickers are actually illegal as the material they are made from is not retroflective. Just because a plate is stamped with the BS number doesn't mean it has passed the test! Likewise, people who put the plate on the sun visor and say it's vertical also run a fine line. It is not legal - if parliament intended for people to run round with front plates on their sun visors they would have said so!! ;p
Are you looking for something in particular? Just the way you phrased it sounds like you are debating over what to do with your front plate?!?!
Anyway. Thank you!! Nice little welcome. Heading down to Exeter start of next week to see a few mate and looking forward to driving the devon roads! It's gunna be sweeeeet!
