« on: November 14, 2012, 03:12:41 am »
just got fitted a new 510h and after a few cd's noticed it doesn't display track info like song name
have not used my hard drive yet so don't know if you have lists there once transferred through sd card but was wondering about the cd side.
all I get is track 1 for example and no album name either  :happy2:

The rcd510, via sd card, will display track info. I presume it will be the same for yours.

Nice purchase!

Are you playing the CDs in a 6-CD changer in the armrest?  If so, you won't get track info.

You need to copy all your CDs on to the hard drive on the RNS 510 using an SD card full of MP3s and then you'll get everything you want!  Before you start, have a think as to how to want to organise your music on the 510.  You can either just dump all your albums in the main folder or you can create some folders first - e.g. 'Favourite Albums', 'Recent Stuff', etc.. and then copy the respective albums into these folders.. Makes it better for random play mode so you don't get tracks from all your various music!

Have a search on here - there's plenty of info!  :happy2:

Hope that helps

Paul.

^^^^ exactly what the man says!

Organised mine in alphabetical order first by "Artis", example being ACDC is first, Bryan Adams next etc etc

Then in "Artist" by Album in alphabetical order or chronological order (my choice) , easier to find, for example we have 10 albums by Bryan Adams alone (my wife's BTW)  :ashamed:

Then by track as per the Album.

Not to hard to arrange on your computer onto your SDHD card, just takes time. Get a decent card and off you go, then download onto your hard drive.

 :happy2:

EDIT need to be turned into MP3's in iTunes, there's a how to somewhere, probably in the Audio section on here. Will have a look for you.

thanks for that, I have the rns or rnh cant remember what one, I will need to join I-tunes anyway for the wifes I pod, is it easier to do the mp3 conversion on there, also do you arrange all your albums in the order you like before you transfer to the sd card or can you sort on the 510 hard drive
thanks for your help guys just need to get an sd card, normal size I guess, what capacity card do you use, I was thinking just to transfer maybe 10 albums at a time so I don't make a mistake so a small card needed maybe ?

I just use a 4gb card to copy them across but obviously, the bigger the card - the less visits to your RNS!  The version of your RNS510 and firmware will govern what the maximum capacity card is that you can use.  Once copied, the album folders are just shown in alphabetical order so it shouldn't be a problem.  Have a practice with a few albums and see how it shows on your RNS.  Your can delete them easily enough if you want to do it differently.

I use iTunes on a Mac to create the MP3 files.  If you are on a Mac, you'll need the 'Hidden Cleaner' utility to tidy up what's on the card..

I would get a 32GB SDHC card, an example from eBay......

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SanDisk-32GB-Extreme-SD-Card-SDHC-45MB-s-Class-10-/290804216986?pt=UK_AudioTVElectronics_PDAsAccessories_MemoryCards&hash=item43b548349a

The albums/tracks can be moved, deleted, renamed and arranged inside the folder once they have been transferred so no worry with getting it wrong, just make sure the little switch is in the correct position (I think it's up IIRC) otherwise you won't be able to transfer music across. Little switch on left hand side.....

Make sure it's a SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) Memory Card as you can store more music on it. 32GB is what most peeps recommend for Card size.

Personally, I've always used Sandisk for the Headunit and in my Camera etc, seem pretty good. The one in the link is the one I have just bought and works fine in my Headunit.
