Upgrading a DSG steering wheel - is there a guide?
« on: November 15, 2012, 10:29:23 am »
Folks,

Is there a guide to changing the steering wheel on a DSG car?

The car has a standard steering wheel...I'm looking to upgrade to one with paddles.
Any guidance on the site anywhere. I tried a search but had no luck.

Also, can a multi-function + paddles wheel be fitted?

Or how about a Mk6 GTI multi-function with paddles wheel?

Finally, would a multi-function steering wheel of any style, work with an RNS510?

Any/all the answers will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

1. Yes a MFSW with paddles can be fitted

2. Yes a Mk6 MFSW can be fitted but you will need to upgrade alot more parts

3. Depending on the year of your car, depends on which buttons you need!

I used a guide from somewhere but cant remember where when i fitted mine

If you are not comfortable pulling your car apart and have/or know someone with VCDS Hex + Can. Then do not bother swapping parts,
as you will not be able to re-calibrate the G85 steering angle sensor.

Good advice there  :happy2:

I'm happy to rip the car apart and do the work, and I have VCDS...I'm just not sure if the result will justifty the effort.
It could get expensive if fitting a lot of parts/controllers together.
