Noobie, what to do !
« on: November 15, 2012, 01:25:01 pm »
hey all,

Hopefully moving back to the world of VAG after owning my MK1 Focus RS for the past 2 ish year's.

Prior too this ive pretty much always had VAG , S3, Mk2's, leon, Polo etc etc... However i do miss it !, So the time has come i think ive paid off my RS and am looking to sell her, Absoloutly love it too bit's but the day to day ownership of such a rare car is pretty rubbish to be honest and i miss my creature comfort's !

im currently looking at MK5 gti's, it look's this way as a pretty much straight comparison with price which mean's i wouldn't owe any extra.. However i would love an edition 30 however this mean's getting into debt and as im planning on moving out ( bye bye money), Im not sure if this is the logical step.
Although this is the case if i buy a normal GTI i feel im just putting up with it as i can't afford the ed , And in the past this has never really worked for me.

My question is , Exactly that what should i do ?? Will i notice a hell of a difference, I do love my bit of power the RS is currently running around 250bhp and doesn't hang about but then again it's not a particularly heavy car ! however fuel consumption is terrible !

Any input would be great , Cheers !!

If you are planning to modify the golf you are better off getting an edition 30 as it has a bigger turbo and stronger internals so it is a lot more tuneable than a gti.

But a normal gti tuned can easily achieve around 260-270 bhp on the k03 turbo at stage 2

As said above, its just whether it worth the extra £2000-£3000 you pay for same kind of age Golf.

I was in the same dilema, Normal GTI was enough for me (can get 265Bhp roughly). and then save for a sexy MK6 in 2 years.
MK6 GTI CSG | Revo Stage 2 | Revo Stage 2 Intake | VWR SubFrame Mount | VibraTechnics Upper Engine Mount | VibraTechnic Transmission Mount | SuperPro Anti Lift Kit | H&R ARB's | Bilstein B12 | TT Short Shifter |Mintex M1144 Race Pads | HEL Braided Lines |

MK5 GTI - DSG + Extras (Sold because DSG was Soooo Boring !!!)

Im guessing stage 2 is exhaust, filter, and a stage 2 map ??

Im not too sure at the moment would rather never get into anymore debt again if im honest so if i am to sell it may HAVE to be a normal GTI

What budget do you have as that will be the ultimate decider?

Well once the sale of mine goes through around £7k straight up which will obviously buy a nice GTI,

but then if i wanted an Ed 30 it would be on HP, Which learning from previous mistakes i would rather avoid if possible.

Don't borrow money to buy a car . Only use what you have and keep a bit for the odd unforseen problem too  :innocent:
