Help please! Dump valve issue...
« on: November 15, 2012, 09:30:43 pm »
Hi guys,
My car has recently developed a power issue - when I accelerate, the power is very lumpy - on, off, on, off, so I'm having to change gears quickly to avoid the lack of power.
I recently had the Revo boost increased to 9, and told the local VW garage this and they told me that it was most likely the old style rubber dump valve for the turbo that had split, so I've bought a new piston style one to replace it, but have no idea where to find it or how to change it... It looks fairly simple looking at the part but if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Em

It is at the lower part of the engine at the back near were the drivers feet would be if he was 7ft tall. It is hard to get to without the car being on ramps or at the very least axle stands> once you can get at it, it should be easy enough, just 3 bolts.  :happy2:

It's a bit fiddly but not rocket science. Good luck.

You're not an ED30 owner by any chance? It's much easier in an ED30-it's in the engine bay.

I removed part of the inner wheel arch liner when I done mine it made access much easier

2 of the bolts can be got at with a really long extension on the socket (the smaller the ratchet drive the better)

The last bolt I used an Allen key and a screwdriver bit holder to get leverage
